Allan Mcgregor

McGregor leads the Rangers to Europa League final with a penalty shootout win

The veteran goalkeeper saved two penalties in the shootout as Rangers beat RB Leipzig 5-4 on penalties to reach the Europa League final.

McGregor, who has been with Rangers for almost two decades, was the hero of the hour as he saved penalties from Christopher Nkunku and Emil Forsberg.

The 39-year-old goalkeeper, who returned to Ibrox for a second stint in 2018, has played a vital role in Rangers' run to the final. He has kept clean sheets in both legs of the semi-final against RB Leipzig and was also the hero in the penalty shootout win over Braga in the quarter-finals.

Rangers will now face Eintracht Frankfurt in the final in Seville on May 18. It will be the first time that Rangers have reached a European final since 2008, when they lost to Zenit Saint Petersburg in the UEFA Cup final.

McGregor's heroics against RB Leipzig have ensured that Rangers will have a chance to win their first European trophy since 1972. The veteran goalkeeper has been a key player for Rangers throughout their Europa League campaign and he will be hoping to continue his good form in the final.
