Jake DeBrusk Scores Game-Winner in Third Period
The Boston Bruins defeated the Florida Panthers 5-2 on Saturday night at TD Garden, completing a four-game sweep of the regular season series. Brandon Carlo, Morgan Geekie, Mason Lohrei, and Justin Brazeau also scored for the Bruins, who improved to 10-3-2 on the season.
Jeremy Swayman made 38 saves for Boston, while Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 25 shots for the Panthers. The Bruins outshot the Panthers 30-27.
The Bruins took a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Carlo and Geekie. Lohrei made it 3-0 early in the second period, but the Panthers answered back with goals by Aleksander Barkov and Sam Reinhart to make it 3-2.
DeBrusk gave the Bruins a two-goal lead again with a goal early in the third period, and Brazeau added an empty-net goal with 2:09 remaining.
The Bruins will need to get the ice bags ready against a Panthers team that peppers the net both from Grade A scoring chances and from the perimeter.
The Bruins will look to continue their winning ways when they host the New York Islanders on Monday night.
