Flight Diversions at Dubai Airport Due to Flooding

Dubai, United Arab Emirates - April 16, 2023

Torrential rains lashed the city-state of Dubai on Tuesday, resulting in major flooding and the temporary diversion of flights arriving at Dubai International Airport (DXB).

The airport, known as the world's busiest for international travel, has been experiencing disruptions throughout the evening due to the severe weather conditions. Several incoming flights have been diverted to alternative locations until the situation improves.

The heavy rains, which have battered parts of the Middle East in recent days, have caused significant flooding in Dubai, inundating roads and suspending services. Schools in the United Arab Emirates have been closed, and flooding has also affected operations at Dubai International Airport.

In Oman, at least 18 people have been killed as a result of heavy rains and flooding. The rains have also disrupted travel and infrastructure in other parts of the region.

Dubai authorities have urged residents to exercise caution and stay indoors as the situation continues to evolve. The airport is working to address the flight disruptions and provide updates to affected passengers.
